Renewal: Replacing Whats Old.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2
We’ve spent time reflecting—identifying the weights we’ve been carrying. We’ve recognized the thought patterns, fears, and habits that have held us back. We’ve released those burdens—surrendering them to God, choosing to trust Him over our need for control. Now, we move forward. Now, we replace.
Surrendering isn’t just about letting go—it’s about filling that space with something new. If we don’t intentionally replace old thoughts and behaviors with God-honoring ones, we risk slipping back into familiar cycles. This is where true transformation happens—by planting new seeds of faith, identity, and purpose.
What It Looks Like to Replace & Renew
Think of your mind like a garden. We’ve pulled up the weeds—now, it’s time to plant truth. We have to be intentional about what we allow to take root.Here’s what this renewal looks like in action:
1. From Overthinking to Resting in God’s Wisdom
• Old Mindset: “What if I make the wrong decision? I have to figure this out.”
• New Mindset: “God will direct my steps. I don’t have to have it all figured out.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
• Habit Shift: Instead of obsessing over every decision, you spend time in prayer and move forward in faith.
2. From Self-Doubt to Confidence
• Old Mindset: “I’m not capable enough to do this.”
• New Mindset: “God has given me everything I need for this season.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)
• Habit Shift: Instead of shrinking back, you step forward boldly, trusting God’s strength over your own.
3. From Fear of Failure to Faith
• Old Mindset: “If I fail, it means I wasn’t supposed to do this.”
• New Mindset: “Failure is a step toward growth. God will use even this for my good.” (Romans 8:28)
• Habit Shift: Instead of avoiding challenges, you take action, knowing God is working through every step.

When we intentionally replace old mindsets and habits, we start to see real change in our lives.

Renewing your mind isn’t just a one-time decision—it’s a daily practice.
Practical Steps to Replace Old Thoughts & Habits
1. Fill Your Mind with God’s Word
God’s truth must be the foundation of our new mindset.
Key Scriptures to Study:
• Isaiah 26:3 — “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
• Colossians 3:2 — “Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.”
• Ephesians 4:22-24 — “Put off your old self… be made new in the attitude of your minds… put on the new self, created to be like God.”
Action: Choose one verse and meditate on it throughout the week. Let it guide your thoughts and decisions.
2. Shift Your Daily Habits
Your habits shape your mindset. If you want to think differently, you must act differently.
New Habits to Practice:
• Start your day with prayer & scripture, not social media.
• Speak affirmations based on God’s Word, not your feelings.
• Surround yourself with people who reinforce truth, not negativity.
Action: Identify one habit that needs to change and replace it with a new, God-honoring habit this week.
3. Challenge Every Thought
Not every thought deserves your attention. If a thought doesn’t align with God’s truth, reject it.
Ask yourself:
• “Would God say this about me?”
• “Is this thought bringing me closer to God or pulling me away?”
• “What does Scripture say about this?”
Action: When a negative thought arises, write it down and replace it with a Bible-based affirmation.
Example:
• Negative Thought: “I’ll always struggle with this.”
• Replacement Truth: “God is doing a new thing in me.” (Isaiah 43:19)
